a/k/a License Exam Options
Upon completion of all components of the driver’s education course, holding a valid learner’s permit for six (6) consecutive months and entry of a student’s Driver Education Certificate (DEC) by the RMV electronically into the RMV date base, a student has the following options for a license exam to obtain a Massachusetts driver’s license.
Scheduling A License Exam Through Meadows Driving School
Meadows Driving School is approved by the RMV as an alternative/off hours test site and is able to offer the license exam at our school in East Longmeadow.
Meadows Driving School will coordinate the Applicant’s test with the RMV.
Meadows Driving School will provide the vehicle for the Applicant’s use for the License Exam. Applicants must use our vehicle.
Meadows Driving School will provide a Certified Driving Instructor as an Applicant’s sponsor, as required by the RMV.
Applicants must provide their own transportation to and from the location of the scheduled license exam.
Meadows Driving School will sponsor a student for a fee of $85.00.
This fee is in addition to the RMV licensing fees:
- Road Test Appointment fee of $35.00 – paid by Applicant to RMV
- License Fee of $50.00 – paid by Applicant to RMV
- Alternative/Off Hours Convenience Fee of $20.00 – paid to MDS
On the day of the license exam, a student will need their learner’s permit, the Class D Road Test Application and a parent to sign the application. Meadows Driving School can provide this document to Applicants who are testing through us.
Scheduling Your Own License Exam
Applicant’s may schedule your own license exam with the RMV. You may call the RMV (857) 368-8000. You must have a student’s permit number, name and date of birth when scheduling by telephone.
Applicant’s may also schedule your own license exam with the RMV through their website www.massrmv.com. You must have a student’s permit number, name, date of birth and social security number when scheduling online.
Applicants must have a vehicle with a parking brake in the center console, between the two front seats of the vehicle, so the Examiner has access to the parking brake.
Applicants must have a licensed adult to sit in the back seat of the vehicle during the test, as their Sponsor.
Applicants must pay the RMV licensing fees of $85.00 when scheduling their exam.
On the day of the license exam, a student will need their a vehicle, their learner’s permit and the Class D Road Test Application, which applicants may obtain from the RMV’s website www.massrmv.com. Applicants will also need the vehicle’s registration and the Sponsor’s valid driver’s license.
ALL CELL PHONES MUST BE OFF DURING A LICENSE EXAM!!! ALL OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE MUST BE WEARING A SEAT BELT DURING THE TEST AND IT IS THE APPLICANT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE ALL OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE ARE WEARING SEATBELTS.
